This paper panel will explore propaganda of the MAGA movement through analysis of artifacts related to MAGA ideology. Each paper sheds light on the use of symbols and rhetoric to propagate white supremacy/racism and authoritarianism characteristic of the MAGA movement.
Abstract
This paper panel will explore propaganda of the MAGA movement through analysis of artifacts related to MAGA ideology. The papers are authored by three graduate students from the Communication, Media and Performance program. The first paper will explore a tweet from President Trump regarding the meeting with President Zelensky of Ukraine and the depiction of the nature of our relationship with this country. The second paper will explore the strategic use of MAGA hats. The third paper presents an analysis of the slogan, "Let's Go Brandon." Each paper sheds light on the use of symbols and rhetoric to propagate white supremacy/racism and authoritarianism characteristic of the MAGA movement.
