Course syllabus for FIN 850 Investments

Course description: The principles of modern finance theory and the traditional finance theory are studied. The limitations of the theories are explored and new valuation methods applicable to technology companies are introduced. Includes topics on investment risk, risk-return relationships, valuation of alternative financial securities, technical analysis, procedures of the securities industry, tax considerations, the psychology of investing. Emphasizes developing skills and techniques to apply and adapt techniques to minimize risk and maximize returns in today's volatile investment climate. Also, students are exposed to the motivations behind individual investors actions when applying these financial tools. Includes coverage of behavioral knowledge and examples of psychological biases.
