Course description: Study of general development of Chinese History with special emphasis on the modem period since A.D. 1840. Topics covered are: History, Geographic and ethnic diversity; the Chinese political system, Ideology, Organizations, the individual and the State; the Chinese family, creating a broader community, cleavages and social conflicts, Agriculture, Industry Trade, Literature, Arts, Science and Technology, China's prospects.
