Abstract

Course syllabus for ELED 499/EDEC 499 Student Teaching in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education

Course description: (ELED 499) Supervised teaching for 15 weeks in a public school under the supervision of [a] superior classroom teacher(s) and a University supervisor. Participation in periodic seminars dealing with classroom-related issues. (EDEC 499) Provides the teacher candidate with directed experiences in planning, organizing, and instructing children within a primary classroom and within a preschool classroom in public schools. A student is supervised in both placements by a Governors State University faculty member and a school-based cooperating teacher. Includes 15 weeks of full-time classroom experience.
