Abstract

The meaning of poetry is in the image it evokes. Its strengths are in the emotions it stirs and the reactions it causes.

The Art Department at Governors State University is sponsoring “Dialogues,” an art exhibit that draws on the power of poetry to inspire the visual arts. Fourteen local artists used published poetry to inspire their creations. With the poems as their muse, they created visual representations of what the poems meant to them.

The exhibit runs from June 1 to June 27, at the Visual Arts Gallery on the GSU campus, 1 University Parkway, University Park. A public reception will be held on June 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the gallery.
