Abstract

“A jewel in the field of counseling education,” were the words used to describe the master’s degree program in counseling at Governor State University. The compliment came during a recent accreditation review of the program by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

The Department of Psychology and Counseling at GSU recently announced the positive review and re-accreditation of its Community Counseling, Marital, Couples, and Family Counseling/Therapy, and School Counseling master’s degree programs by CACREP. CACREP is the national accrediting body whose periodic reviews ensure that university programs meet industry and educational standards of excellence.
