Course syllabus for ADDS 525 Brief Therapy for Addictions: Experts on Video

Course description: This course has been designed to introduce and explore eight theoretical perspectives that may be used in working with individuals who are struggling with addiction issues. The use of videos, small group experiences, lecture, and discussion will be utilized. The following models will be explored:

  • Couples Therapy for Addictions
  • Solution Focused Therapy for Addictions
  • Cognitive Therapy for Addictions
  • Motivational Interviewing for Addictions
  • Reality Therapy for Addictions
  • Integrating Therapy w/12-Step Programs
  • Stages of Change
  • Harm Reduction Therapy for Addictions
