Course syllabus for MEDT 321 Clinical Laboratory Science: Hematology I
Course description: This course is the first in a series of lectures in clinical hematology and is a part of the Clinical Microscopy Unit. Hematological studies (e.g., the complete blood count) are some of the most common laboratory procedures. Thus, it is essential for the medical technology student to understand the function and morphological characteristics of the various cellular elements of the blood. This course will cover specimen collection and preservation, hematopoiesis, morphology, function and cytochemistry of the cellular components of blood tissue.
