Center for Performing Arts, Southland Area Theatre Ensemble (SLATE)

Abstract

From symphonies to rock concerts and from Bill Cosby to Shakespeare, The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University has been the leader in bringing quality entertainment to the south suburbs for more than a decade. Now The Center itself is getting into the act with the founding of the Southland Area Theatre Ensemble (SLATE).

The new theatre group grew out of the extensive talents of Center staff, associates, and friends. “After 12 years, we’ve built an impressive network of stage production related individuals,” said Burt Dikelsky, Director of GSU’s Center for Performing Arts. “With all of the talent available in this area and the continued popularity of regional community theatre, we were in the perfect position to start the group.”
