Abstract

Home Away From Home is a platform for the facilitation of short term rentals as alternative to expensive hotels, this service will connect landowners and vacationers directly. Our project is to design and create a web application and database to conduct these transactions as well as connecting clients to rentable properties.

Home Away From Home will have support for administrators, property owners, and vacationers. Property owners will be able to list their property, review transactions, and manage approval or denial of rentals. Vacationers will be able to search listings in their desired areas and reserve the one that best suits them. Admins will have the ability to see all transactions, edit information when necessary, and manage all users.

Software Requirements/Tools:

Operating System: Windows, OSX, or Linux.

User Interface: HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap.

Client-side Scripting: JavaScript, jQuery.

IDE/Workbench: Visual Basic 2017 ASP.NET C#.

Database: SQL.
