Abstract

Background:

Neck pain affects many people globally. It is crucial to consider the role that the thoracic spine, specifically the first thoracic ring, plays in neck pain and cervical motion. The manubrial test is a palpation test that can identify movement dysfunction by analyzing how the manubrium moves during cervical motion. However, limited research exists regarding the test's validity and reliability.

Purpose:

To determine the reliability of the manubrial test.

Methods:

Participants were assessed for eligibility before cervical rotation range of motion was taken in proper posture and slouched posture. The manubrial test was then performed by two independent examiners.

Results/Conclusion:

Thirty-two participants were included in the study. With a kappa value of k = .718, p = < .001, this study determined there is substantial interrater agreement.
