Pierre the Penguin
This collection features photos of Pierre the Penguin, from a contest sponsored by Governors State University's Office of Public Affairs. The Take Pierre on Vacation Contest was open to students, faculty, and staff who were invited to take the unofficial mascot on vacation and submit their best photo of him in a fun, unique, or exotic locale. Submissions were published in issues of the GSU View during 2010 and 2012.
Pierre was billed by the GSU View as the perfect traveling companion because he wouldn't snore, steal the covers, or emit rude noises at inappropriate times. His compact size meant he didn't take up much room and he knew when to keep his mouth shut. Pierre was also very photogenic and loved to have his photo taken.
