Abstract

Medical speech-language pathologists’ experiences with nurses’ diet modification practices patterns were explored via a descriptive survey design. Specific medical work settings and diet modification dysphagia practices patterns were surveyed. The vast majority of participants (86%) reported exposure to nursing staff claiming permission to modify dysphagia diets without consulting speech pathology. Nurses’ diet modification practice patterns and trends from 2019 to 2023 are explored.
