Abstract

Course syllabus for CDIS 304 Phonetics

Course description: This is a course in basic articulatory phonetics. Phonetics will be examined in relation to its linguistic and anatomical, and to a lesser extent, acoustic, backgrounds. Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet in transcribing speech, and in the development of auditory skills necessary for transcription.
