Abstract
Course syllabus for EDUC 465 Methods of Teaching English
Course description: This course focuses on the various components of the secondary school English curriculum. Students should develop competencies to meet the full range of responsibilities of the teacher of English at the secondary level. The course includes study in English language, literature, composition, listening, and reading, with an emphasis on the knowledge, pedagogy and dispositions necessary to successful teaching of English language arts. Special attention is given to the challenges of cultural diversity, individual student differences and instructional technology, all of which prepare the student teacher for professional competency in the modern secondary English classroom.
