Abstract
Course syllabus for HLAD 355 Health Care Politics
Course description: This course introduces key features of U.S. health policy, and analyzes political factors that shape the health system. The first part of the course identifies the major stakeholders in the health system and their roles in health politics. The second part of the course focuses on current controversy over access and payment for health services. The third part analyzes additional political issues associated with AIDS, medical ethics and quality assurance.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to identify key problems facing the U.S. health system today, and should be able to develop an informed opinion as to the political factors most likely to affect the future of the health system.
