Abstract
Course syllabus for HLAD 801 Health Care Sociology
Course description: This course examines the diverse field of Medical Sociology in a broad manner with specific, detailed reference to selected sub topics in the field. The course will cover topics on: the social definition of health and illness; the concept of sick-role; illness as deviant behavior; access to health care; patterns of utilization of health care; principles of the demography and epidemiology of health and illness; macro and micro aspects of the health care system; and health care and social policy.
