Abstract
Course syllabus for HLSC 510 Death and Dying for the Health Care Professional
Course description: Almost all health care professionals come in contact with dying patients sometime during their career. Our technological environment tends to make health workers more interested in the patient as a center of medical study rather than a person who is facing death. The purpose of this course is to help the professional 1) understand current attitudes toward death, 2) learn to cope with death and deal with it compassionately yet professionally, and 3) learn ways to help the family and patient deal with a terminal illness.
