Abstract

Course syllabus for MGMT 421 Labor Relations

Course description: This is a lecture/discussion course which introduces the student to the role of management and the role of labor in our society. The development of labor management negotiations and the impact of governmental regulations upon same are reviewed, culminating in simulated exercises in grievance handling and arbitration. This is all against a background of general criticism, well placed or erroneous, against labor and an indifference on the part of the government toward hostile mergers and the impact of some of these mergers upon the communities they are located in.
