Abstract
Course syllabus for MGMT 430 Small Business Administration
Course description: Management 430 is intended for the student considering starting, helping to start, or managing a small business. Much of the activity will involve the survey of business operations with specific emphasis on the factors that are critical to new and small operations. The general tone of the course is pragmatic. A major portion of the course will involve the development of a business plan suitable for loan application and/or operating control.
A background in business studies will be helpful. Students without such a background are welcome, but should recognize that they will need to make an extra effort to gain background in general business activities.
The class will operate on a co-operative basis. Discussion, presentation and defense of opinions will be required. The text is only part of the input material used. Students will be required to gather information from library and other outside sources.
