Abstract
Course syllabus for MGMT 510A Foundations of Managerial Statistics
Course description: Introduces students to the basic concepts of statistics and probability with emphasis on the managerial approach to statistical analysis of data. This is a foundation course for graduate students and covers most of the topics taught in the undergraduate courses STAT 361 and STAT 362. The course covers both Descriptive Statistics and Statistical Inference. Topics covered include Descriptive Statistics,Theory of Probability, Discrete and Continuous Probability Distributions, Sampling Distributions and Estimation, Hypothesis Testing, and Simple and Multiple Regression. The course is designed as an application-oriented course and students are required to study and analyze several case problems covering functional and general management. Students are provided opportunity to use (and familiarize) statistical computer software such as Minitab or SPSS.
