Abstract
Course syllabus for MIS 46A Business Information Retrieval and Data Base Management
Course description: An introduction to the design, operation and performance evaluation of data bases. Structuring data bases as part of Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, and Expert Systems. Detailed study of hierarchical, Network and Relational data models. Topics covered include: Data Base Architecture, Conceptual and Physical Design of Data Bases, Data Base Environment, Data Base Administration, Data Base Security, Concurrency Control and Data Recovery, Commercially Available DBMS, and Criteria for Evaluation of a DBMS.
