Course syllabus for SOCW 460 Proseminar in Social Work I

Course description: This course is the first in the field practicum sequence of the Social Work Major. Students in the seminar are candidates for the practicum, and upon completing the course with a passing evaluation, will be officially approved for the practicum. Experiences in the course are designed to enhance the student's entry into and management of the practicum. The course provides students with an opportunity to explore agencies, identify desirable placements, and become thoroughly familiar with policies and procedures relating to the practicum. Students engage in self-assessment and the development of personal goals for their practicum experience. This seminar is to be taken during the trimester prior to the field practicum.
