Abstract
The University Statistical Abstract 1982 represents the fifth publication of this major GSU planning document. As in the past, we have attempted to include information that should be of use to all segments of the University community. Given the breadth and scope of the information presented in this document, the University's faculty, staff, and students will be able to utilize these data for academic and institutional planning, program review, and institutional research purposes.
Based upon suggestions from the University community and the identified needs of the University planning process, several major areas of emphasis have been included in this publication. Wherever possible, academic data are presented at the major level of aggregation rather than at the program level. Statistics have been also been provided on such topics as student geographical origin, daytime enrollment growth, energy costs, academic year enrollment trends, and more sophisticated State-wide cost comparisons.
