Brief History
The first Governors State University commencement was held in the summer of 1972 at the mini-campus warehouse. This event was combined with the inauguration ceremony for first GSU President William E. Engbretson. The first major event scheduled at the university's permanent campus was the commencement of January 1974. Learn more.
