Comments
Data collection enabled by AI promises to advance scientific knowledge, but it also raises concerns about potential harm to individuals and groups. The workshop will focus on the challenges that the use of AI poses to the fundamental ethical principles of respect for persons, beneficence, and justice, and their application in research. Specifically, the workshop will discuss how the use of AI affects the definitions of “human subjects” and “human subjects research”, and the Common Rule’s provisions for privacy and confidentiality, informed consent, risks, and exempt research.
