Abstract

Course syllabus for ART 615 Art Since 1945

Course description: This course is a survey of modern art since 1945. Special emphasis will be given to the United States, although the influence of European, Mexican and non-Western art will also be discussed.

There will be an examination of the philosophical and stylistic developments of contemporary art. Students will be expected to analyze the diversity of various artists, movements, and theories of Post-World War II art and see the relationship of the art of this period to American society. An examination of the influence of technological advancements on the art of the period will also be made.
