Abstract
Course syllabus for MEDT 350 Clinical Laboratory Science: Medical Technology Practicum III
Course description: This practicum is the third in the clinical chemistry laboratory series. The basic Technicon Autoanalyzer will be studied including its operation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting. Other techniques to be performed will be thin layer chromatrography (TLC) for drug screening, immunoelectrophoresis and lipoprotein electrophoresis, an enzyme immunoassay(EIA) for Beta HCG, serum salicylate and serum ethanol. Scanning to determine the optimum wavelength for a particular procedure, pipet maintenance, pipet calibration and spectrophotometer standardization will also be covered.
