Abstract
Course syllabus for MGMT 530 International Management
Course description: The course studies the practices and problems of international management, with special emphasis this trimester on West Germany. As business activity has expanded beyond national boundaries, firms within individual countries have been forced to develop a variety of organizational and management strategies to succeed within the new global environment with its ever-present risks and potential for conflict. While Germany has borrowed from American experience, its own unique business patterns have also evolved. Differences between American and German management practices will be noted. Students enrolled in the course will take part in a two-week tour of German businesses between June 30 and July 13, 1990 and in a pre-trip orientation program. The course will not be open to students not participating in the German business tour. Enrollment is a prerequisite to taking part in the internship program with German businesses during the Summer of 1991.
